Amman, Aug 11 (Petra) — The Muslim World League strongly condemned
on Tuesday the decision by Colombia’s government to recognize Israeli
sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
In a statement, MWL Secretary-General Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa
denounced the recognition as a clear violation of international law
and relevant United Nations resolutions, specifically UNSC Resolution
497 of 1981, which declared Israel’s decision to impose its laws,
jurisdiction, and administration on the occupied Syrian Golan null
and void and without international legal effect.
Al-Issa reiterated that the Golan Heights remain occupied Syrian Arab
territory, stressing that any measures or decisions altering its
status are invalid, unacceptable, and harmful to regional peace
efforts.
