London, June 02 (QNA) – Newcastle United announced on Tuesday that it had extended the contract of its Swiss defender, Fabian Schar, by one year.
Schar’s previous deal, which had been due to expire at the end of this month, has been renewed, keeping him in manager Eddie Howe’s squad through the 2026-27 season.
The defender joined Newcastle from Deportivo La Coruna in the summer of 2018. Since then, he has made 251 official appearances for the club and was part of the team that won the EFL Cup. He has also featured in two Champions League campaigns with Newcastle.
Schar has been sidelined since January because of ankle and foot problems. At the international level, he has earned 86 caps for Switzerland. (QNA)
