Muscat, 6 January 2026 (ONA) — Al Muhannad bin Tawfiq Al Balushi, Member of the Omani National Taekwondo Team, stood out as one of
the Sultanate of Oman’s most promising athletes during recent international tournaments.
Al Muhannad earned top medals at several world championships, most notably the prestigious European
Taekwondo Grand Prix Final 2025 held in Sarajevo—Bosnia & Herzegovina—that
charted out a new chapter in his athletic career.
Al Muhannad told Oman News Agency
that 2026 represents a foundational stage in his career as he upgrades for the
first time to the general category. He pointed out that the start will be in the weight
of “Under 54 kg”, with scopes for gradual progression to the weight of “U-58 kg”, according to the assessment of the technical staff and his physical readiness.
Al Muhannad explained that his
most prominent achievements during 2025 included winning silver medal at Qatar
International Championship (Qatar Open), in addition to winning gold medal in
the European Taekwondo Grand Prix Final 2025—an achievement
that figured high in the Omani Taekwondo team’s accomplishments in the youth
category.
Al Muhannad also occupied 5th place globally
in “U-45 kg” and 8th place globally in the “U-48 kg”, which both set indicators
for his continuous presence within the world ranking system.
