Ramallah, July 06 (QNA) – The National Library of Palestine and the General Union of Palestinian Writers signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday to strengthen cooperation in preserving, documenting, digitizing, and safeguarding the literary and intellectual legacy of Palestinian writers for future generations.

The agreement provides for the launch of a joint national initiative, “Palestinian Literary Memory,” aimed at preserving the country’s literary heritage and protecting the contributions of Palestinian authors and intellectuals.

Under the memorandum, the two sides will work together to strengthen the legal deposit system for literary works and encourage union members to deposit books, publications, manuscripts, and archival materials with the National Library for preservation, cataloging, and inclusion in bibliographic databases. The initiative also seeks to document Palestinian literary production and make it more accessible to researchers and the public.

The agreement further calls for joint initiatives to promote Palestinian literature and expand its presence at Arab and international cultural forums. It also includes plans to leverage the international partnerships of both institutions, broaden literary cooperation, and organize exhibitions, forums, and cultural events showcasing the work of Palestinian writers on the global stage.
