Amman, July 29 (Petra) – Director of Public Security Directorate
(PSD), Maj. Gen. Dr. Obaidullah Maayta, on Wednesday visited the
Peacekeeping Operations Department.

During the visit, Maayta checked on training and qualification
programs for PSD’s personnel nominated to participate in United
Nations peacekeeping missions.

He also assessed these servicemen’s readiness to carry out their
assigned security and humanitarian tasks “efficiently and
professionally.”

Maayta said Jordan’s participation in UN peacekeeping missions aligns
with the vision and directives of the wise Hashemite leadership.

As for its significance, he stated this presence reflects Jordan’s
“firm” commitment to supporting international peace and security and
contributing to the protection of communities affected by conflicts
and crises.

This effor, he noted, reflects the Kingdom’s civilized image and
strengthens its position as a “reliable” international partner in
establishing the values ​​of peace and stability.

He noted the United Nations’ accreditation of the PSD’s Peacekeeping
Operations Training Institute as a regional and international center
for building the participants’ capacities in UN missions and programs
represents a national achievement.

He said this milestone reflects the PSD’s global confidence and
affirms quality of its training programs, the personnel competence
and their accumulated expertise in this field.

On future scheme, he directed the continued development of
specialized training programs to keep pace with the best practices
and international standards, and leveragethe practical experience of
previous participants to benefit new peacekeepers.

He said this vision will contribute to enhancing readiness and the
ability to perform tasks “efficiently and adequately” and maintain
the “distinguished” reputation of the PSD’s personnel established in
various UN missions over the past years.

In a presentation, Maayta was briefed by Director of the Peacekeeping
Operations Department, who reviewed the mechanisms for picking and
qualifying participants, the accredited training programs, and the
development plans, aimed at enhancing the participants’ efficiency
and keeping pace with the evolving requirements of working in UN
missions.

The director said this process ensures the continued excellence of
Jordanian participation and its active presence at the international
level.
