Amman, Aug. 5 (Petra) –Public Security Directorate (PSD) on
Wednesday destroyed “large” quantities of narcotics seized in 1,121
trafficking, smuggling and possession cases after all legal
procedures were completed and final court rulings were issued.
The destroyed illicit drugs included about 16.89 million Captagon
pills, 793 kilograms of amphetamine, 500 kilograms of cannabis, 105.5
kilograms of marijuana, 16.5 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine,
30.75 kilograms of Joker powder, 32.5 kilograms of synthetic
cannabis, 5,000 bags of Joker, 95,000 narcotic pills, 1.5 kilograms
of cocaine and 800 grams of heroin.
The destruction process was carried out in specialized furnaces
operating at temperatures of up to 1,000 degrees Celsius under the
supervision of a committee chaired by PSD Assistant for Traffic
Brig. Gen.
Muhannad Bataineh.
Committee members comprised of directors of the Anti-Narcotics
Department and the And the relevant security agencies, as well as the
prosecutor of the State Security Court. The process was conducted,
in accordance with approved legal procedures.
In its statement, the PSD said the Anti-Narcotics Department
continues to conduct specialized, preemptive operations based on an
integrated security system combining intelligence and field
operations.
The PSD added that the department coordinates with the Jordan Armed
Forces – Arab Army, the Jordan Customs Department and other security
agencies to pursue drug trafficking, smuggling and distribution
networks.
As for its future policy, the PSD affirmed its crackdown against
narcotics will continue through sustained field operations,
alongside prevention, awareness and treatment efforts aimed at
protecting society, preserving security and stability, and
safeguarding citizens from the dangers of narcotics and their
destructive effects.
