Doha, July 07 (QNA) – The State of Qatar strongly condemned the targeting of the Saudi tanker ‘Wedyan’ as it transited the Strait of Hormuz, calling the incident a grave violation of international maritime safety, a direct threat to global energy supplies, and a clear breach of international law.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the continuation of these unacceptable attacks constitutes a dangerous escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region, undermines efforts to consolidate regional security and stability, and jeopardizes the gains achieved following the Memorandum of Understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, including de-escalation and enhanced maritime security in the region.
The ministry reiterated the State of Qatar’s demand that the Islamic Republic of Iran immediately cease all practices that threaten the security of the region, refrain from endangering the security of international navigation and global energy supplies, fully comply with the rules of international law and UN Security Council Resolution 2,817, and take urgent measures to prevent the recurrence of such attacks.
