Irbid, July 13, (Petra) – Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Hassan
Al-Issawi on Monday sponsored the opening ceremony of the annual
medical conference titled “Hope and Optimism for Cancer Patients in
the Kingdom.”

The event was organized by the “Bayt Al-Hikma Association for
Supporting Cancer Patients and Underprivileged Families,” with the
attendance of Irbid Governor Firas Abu Al-Ghanam alongside several
official, parliamentary, academic, and local community
representatives.

Faiza Al-Zoubi, head of the conference’s supreme committee, stated
that the event carries a profound humanitarian and national message
aimed at fostering hope among cancer patients and strengthening
social support frameworks. She noted that hosting the event in Irbid
highlights the governorate’s scientific and medical standing,
bringing together a distinguished elite of doctors, researchers, and
academics from across the Kingdom to exchange expertise and elevate
the quality of oncology care.

Al-Zoubi also extended congratulations on behalf of the people of
Irbid to His Majesty King Abdullah II on national and religious
occasions, noting that the Royal Court Chief’s sponsorship aligns
with royal directives prioritizing humanitarian initiatives and
supporting vulnerable groups, particularly pediatric cancer patients.

President of the Association, Khaldoon Al-Azzam, explained that since
its establishment in 2009, the organization has consistently
delivered programs to support cancer patients and underprivileged
families.

He highlighted their work in organizing scientific conferences,
awareness seminars, therapeutic trips, and psychosocial support
programs for sick children and their families. Al-Azzam added that
the association currently cares for dozens of pediatric patients and
underprivileged families in close cooperation with the Irbid
Directorate of Social Development and local volunteers.

Dr. Hussein Obeidat emphasized that caring for pediatric cancer
patients is a moral and humanitarian responsibility that transcends
basic healthcare, describing medicine as a noble mission rooted in
compassion. He added that rapid scientific advancements in diagnosis
and treatment have successfully increased recovery rates, emphasizing
that preserving patient dignity and offering psychological support to
families remain at the core of medical practice.

Dr. Nancy Al-Dughmi, a member of the association’s supreme committee,
reviewed the comprehensive care framework developed by Bayt Al-Hikma.
She noted that the conference aims to unify medical and community
efforts to transition from conventional care to a holistic system
that ensures sustainable medical and psychological support for
children.

At the conclusion of the opening session, which was moderated by
Ismail Al-Houri, the organizers honored the Royal Court Chief. The
conference agenda featured specialized lectures covering the
epidemiology of cancer in Jordan, cancer prevention through tobacco
control, and the vital role of psychological support for oncology
patients.
