Amman, Sep. 29 (Petra) – A team from the Coast Guard unit of the
Royal Naval Force and Royal Boats Command successfully rescued a
19-year-old citizen, who was drowning in Aqaba’s North Beach area on
Tuesday.
According to a joint statement, one of the unit’s patrol boats
spotted the drowning incident. Then, the Naval Operations Center was
notified, and a rescue and safety vessel was dispatched.
The citizen was rescued, administered first aid, and transported to a
safety zone, he is reported to be in good health.
As for its mission, the Coast Guard operates around the clock,
conducting search, rescue, and medical aid operations.
This force also monitors enforcement of maritime laws, and protects
tourism and industrial facilities in the Gulf of Aqaba and the Dead
Sea.
