Amman, Feb. 4 (Petra) -Royal Scientific Society (RSS) signed an agreement with the Jordan Scientific Research Support Fund (SRSF) of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to support a project to develop and create chemically modified zeolite filters to capture carbon dioxide from air of Jordan’s factories.
The agreement was signed by the RSS Vice President, Dr. Arafat Awajan, and the SRSF’s Director, Dr. Wassim Halsa.
According to a RSS statement on Tuesday, the project will address an “important” environmental issue, aimed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, especially carbon dioxide, which contributes “significantly” to the phenomenon of global warming and climate change.
The project also aims to develop “low-cost and effective” materials to sequester CO2 from industrial activities in Jordan.
The statement added that the project eyes to improve “efficiency” of CO2 sequestration and increase “sustainability” in Jordan’s plants.
Additionally, the project will play an “important” role in reducing gas emissions from the Kingdom’s industrial sector and contribute to combating climate change locally and globally.
