Amman, July 26 (Petra) – The Senate’s Committee on Arab,
International Affairs and Expatriates, chaired by Senator Omar
Razzaz, discussed on Sunday the rapidly evolving military and
political developments in the region and their implications for
Jordan and other Arab countries.

Committee members said the changing regional landscape presents
challenges that require intensified efforts to strengthen security
and stability and enhance joint Arab action.

They said Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah
II, continues to play a balanced and pivotal role in addressing
regional and international issues, guided by its longstanding
principles of respect for international law, support for legitimate
rights, and the promotion of dialogue and diplomacy as the means to
resolve crises.

The committee also underscored the importance of highlighting the
King’s diplomatic and political efforts in support of regional
issues, saying they reflect Jordan’s and its leadership’s respected
standing in the international community.

Members condemned the continuing escalation in the occupied
Palestinian territories, particularly in the West Bank, citing
repeated attacks on Palestinians by Israeli settlers and the Israeli
military, as well as ongoing incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque
compound. They warned that such actions could further undermine
regional security and stability.

The committee also reviewed developments in the Gaza Strip, stressing
the need to reach a comprehensive and just political solution to end
the conflict and bring an end to the humanitarian crisis, in
accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.

It also reaffirmed its rejection of any attacks or practices that
violate the sovereignty of states or threaten their security and
stability, including what it described as repeated Iranian attacks
against a number of Arab countries, and stressed the need to respect
international law.
