Amman, Oct. 11 (Petra) — Senate President Faisal Fayez met Sunday
with Norwegian Ambassador to Jordan Andreas Lovold to discuss the
ways to broaden cooperation.
Talking at the meeting, Fayez said the two kingdoms share “firm”
ties, built on mutual respect and common interests.
He also stressed Jordan’s commitment to sustaining relations,
strengthening economic cooperation, building investment partnerships
and activating bilateral agreements.
He praised Norway’s support for Jordan, including assistance in
meeting refugees’ needs and its support for the United Nations Relief
and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
The meeting also covered regional developments, including the
Iranian-American-Israeli war and its repercussions for the security
and stability of the region and the world.
Fayez said widening the war would push the region toward more
conflict, chaos and destruction.
Reviewing the latest developments on the Palestinian cause, he said
King Abdullah II, in his address to the United Nations General
Assembly, confronted the international community with the reality of
war crimes committed by Israel in the occupied West Bank and the Gaza
Strip.
Fayez said the King highlighted that events in the West Bank and
Gaza are inseperable, referring to His Majesty’s remarks on spread of
settler violence, land seizures and settlement expansion in the West
Bank, which amount to war crimes and forced displacement.
Fayez also reiterated Jordan’s rejection of attacks by Iran and its
proxies in the region on the Kingdom and the Arab Gulf states. He
condemned Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and the targeting of
civilians.
Lovold, for his part, praised the King’s role in advancing regional
security and stability. He highlighted the importance of
strengthening economic and investment partnership and activating
agreements across various fields.
He also urged continued bilateral coordination on issues of mutual
concern, particularly at the regional level, and the importance of
peaceful solutions to end the conflicts in the region.
