Karak, Sept. 29 (Petra) – The Southern Ghor and Ghor Al-Mazra’a
municipalities signed an agreement on Tuesday to build and operate
two standalone solar energy systems with a combined capacity of 950
kilowatts (kW).
The project is part of Phase II of the Sustainable Energy and
Economic Development (SEED 2) Project, funded by Canada and
implemented in partnership with Cowater International.
Under the agreement, Ghor Al-Mazra’a will receive a 380 kW capacity
allocation, while the Southern Ghor municipality will receive 570 kW.
The initiative seeks to lower electricity consumption costs and
generate financial savings, allowing both municipalities to improve
public services and expand their reliance on renewable energy.
The municipalities thanked supporting partners and international
stakeholders for their efforts in executing the project.
