Damascus, August 11 (QNA) – Syria Tuesday decried Colombia’s Foreign Ministry’s announcement recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan.
It stressed that this position doesn’t comport with international law and relevant UN resolutions.
In a statement, the Syrian Foreign Ministry said the move is utterly unacceptable, asserting that the Golan is part and parcel of Syrian territory and that the Colombian statement conspicuously breaches the UN Charter.
The statement hailed the growing international support for Syria’s legitimate rights in the occupied Golan, noting that the number of countries backing the UN General Assembly resolution on “The Syrian Golan” rose from 97 in 2024 to 123 in 2025.
In addition, the Ministry re-emphasized its flat-out rejection of the relentless Israeli attacks and incursions into Syrian territory, and demanded that the international community and organizations undertake their responsibilities in respecting international law and UN resolutions.
The Ministry confirmed that it would pursue diplomatic and lawful means to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria, along with its enduring rights, and strive to regain its occupied territories. (QNA)
