Amman, Aug. 30 (Petra) — A sharp drop in temperatures will bring
cooler, unsettled weather to much of the country on Sunday, with rain
forecast across northern and central regions and thunderstorms
possible in the north, according to the Jordan Meteorological
Department.

Temperatures are expected to fall to around 4 degrees Celsius below
seasonal averages, accompanied by clouds at varying altitudes,
particularly over northern and central areas.

Rain showers are forecast across the north and parts of the central
regions, with thunderstorms possible in northern areas. There is also
a slight chance of brief showers reaching limited parts of the
northeastern Badia and southwestern regions.

Conditions are expected to gradually stabilise during the afternoon.
Brisk westerly winds, however, will continue and may raise dust,
particularly across the Badia.

The Meteorological Department warned of reduced visibility due to fog
over high mountainous areas during the morning and of occasional poor
visibility caused by dust in desert regions. Motorists were also
advised to exercise caution on roads affected by rainfall due to the
risk of slippery surfaces.

The unsettled spell is expected to be short-lived, with temperatures
beginning to recover on Monday. Mild summer conditions will return
across most regions, while the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba
remain hot. Low clouds are expected over northern and central areas.

Temperatures will rise slightly again on Tuesday, although conditions
will remain moderate across the highlands and plains. The Badia is
forecast to turn relatively hot, while hot weather continues in the
Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba.

The warming trend will extend into Wednesday, when temperatures are
expected to move slightly above seasonal averages. Relatively hot
conditions will prevail across most regions, with hot weather in the
Badia and very hot conditions in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and
Aqaba.

Sunday’s temperatures are forecast to reach 29 degrees Celsius in
East Amman and 27 C in West Amman, with highs of 25 C in the northern
highlands, 27 C in the Sharah highlands and 30 C across the plains.

Temperatures are expected to reach 33 C in the Badia, 36 C in the
northern Jordan Valley, 38 C at the Dead Sea, 37 C in Aqaba and 39 C
in the southern Jordan Valley.
