Amman, Feb 10 (Petra) — The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) Board of Commissioners has approved a reduction in annual frequency spectrum fees for terrestrial FM broadcasting stations, implementing cuts of up to 40 percent from previous licensing rates.
In a statement issued Monday, the Commission announced a new fee structure that grants licensees discounts on annual spectrum fees for simulcasting across multiple governorates.
Under the new framework, operators will pay 10 percent of the highest station fee for each additional transmitter.
The Commission has also modified the service type coefficient (M4) in the annual spectrum fee calculation formula for audio broadcasting services from 0.5 to 0.3.
The TRC is introducing an additional incentive package to reduce spectrum fees for broadcasters expanding into underserved governorates – Ma’an, Tafila, and Mafraq – where private radio presence is limited.
This initiative aims to promote nationwide coverage and enhance social development in these regions.
