Amman, July 24 (Petra)– United Nations Special Rapporteur on the
situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories,
Francesca Albanese, warned on Friday of escalating attacks by Israeli
settlers across the occupied West Bank, calling for an international
protective presence to safeguard Palestinian civilians.
In a post on the social media platform X, Albanese said violent
attacks were being reported throughout the West Bank, particularly in
the northern region and Nablus Governorate.
She alleged that “terrorist gangs of settlers, backed by Israeli
soldiers, are literally calling for bloodshed,” describing the
situation as increasingly alarming.
Albanese urged states to deploy a “protective presence” to shield
Palestinian civilians in the occupied West Bank from attacks by
Israeli settlers.
Earlier on Friday, several human rights organizations, including
Israeli groups, called on the international community to intervene
urgently to halt attacks carried out by Israeli settlers and the
Israeli military against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.
