New York, Jan 27 (Petra) – United Nations Secretary-General Ant?nio Guterres expressed concern over the announcement of a halt to U.S. foreign aid, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the continuation of development and humanitarian activities for the most vulnerable communities.
In a statement by the UN spokesperson, Guterres called for additional exemptions to allow for the provision of critical support that millions worldwide rely on for survival.
He noted that the United States is one of the largest providers of development and humanitarian assistance and expressed his hope to work with the new U.S. administration to secure this essential aid for those facing severe challenges in the developing world.
The UN Secretary-General underscored the importance of constructive collaboration to address global challenges and support sustainable development efforts.
