Amman, Sept. 29 (Petra) – UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell
concluded a two-day visit to Jordan on Tuesday.

During her visit, Russell met with children at a community center run
by the Jordan River Foundation, which partners with UNICEF to provide
education, protection, and support for vulnerable families.

She held talks with Minister of Education and Human Resources
Development Azmi Mahafzah and Minister of Social Development Wafaa
Bani Mustafa to canvas current needs.

Russell discussed Jordan’s strong national frameworks, including the
2022 Child Rights Law and strategies for social protection and youth
empowerment, which ensure universal primary school enrollment.

“Jordan is achieving impressive results for children,” Russell said,
praising the Kingdom’s progress in children’s rights and reaffirming
UNICEF’s commitment to supporting government efforts to transform
school enrollment into quality learning and employment opportunities.

However, she warned that declining international funding limits the
ability to deliver core services, urging global donors to provide
flexible, multi-year funding.
