Amman, July 21 (Petra) — A prevailing warm air mass continues to
affect the Kingdom today, maintaining relatively hot conditions over
the mountain highlands and interior plains, while severe heat
persists across the Badia and southern lowlands, according to the
Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

Moderate northwesterly winds will blow across most districts, picking
up periodically during the afternoon hours.

Atmospheric conditions will remain largely unchanged through
Wednesday and Thursday, with high pressure sustaining the elevated
heat indices. Relatively hot weather will dominate high-elevation
areas, while the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and the Port of Aqaba
continue to experience intense thermal stress under persistent solar
radiation.

A slight shift in atmospheric dynamics on Friday is expected to bring
a minor drop in temperatures, returning conditions closer to normal
seasonal baselines. The shift will yield moderate summer weather
across the mountain highlands and plains, while the Badia transitions
to relatively hot conditions and the low-lying southern basins
experience standard summer heat. Low-altitude cloud cover is
projected to develop sporadically, accompanied by moderate
northwesterly winds with occasional gusts.

Daytime highs in East Amman will reach 34 degrees Celsius before
falling to an overnight low of 23 degrees Celsius, while West Amman
will record a high of 32 degrees Celsius and a low of 21 degrees
Celsius.

Across the northern highlands, temperatures will top out at 30
degrees Celsius with an overnight low of 20 degrees Celsius, while
the Sharrah highlands will range between 31 degrees Celsius and 17
degrees Celsius. The surrounding plains will see a maximum of 34
degrees Celsius and a minimum of 19 degrees Celsius, with the Badia
reaching 37 degrees Celsius during peak afternoon heating before
cooling to 20 degrees Celsius at night.

Extreme heat will remain focused along the low-lying western
corridor. The Northern Ghor will record a high of 41 degrees Celsius
and a low of 24 degrees Celsius, while the Southern Ghor will reach
44 degrees Celsius during the day and drop to 26 degrees Celsius
overnight. Maxima at the Dead Sea will peak at 43 degrees Celsius
with a low of 26 degrees Celsius, and Aqaba will record a high of 42
degrees Celsius, dropping to 27 degrees Celsius overnight.
