Brussels, July 09 (QNA) – The EU’s Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) said that Western Europe recorded its warmest June on record, as a new heatwave grips the continent.
In its monthly report, C3S said that the average temperature in Western Europe reached 20.74 degrees Celsius in June, more than 3 degrees Celsius above the 1991–2020 average for the month, surpassing the previous record set in June 2025.
Strategic Lead for the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), Samantha Burgess, said that climate change is shifting from an abstract, statistical problem confined to reports to a tangible reality disrupting everyday life.
She added that Europe is warming much faster than the global average, noting that changes in atmospheric circulation are among the underlying causes. (QNA)
