Baku, Jan. 13, 2026 (SUNA) – Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ambassador Muawiya Osman Khalid met Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Baku, where they reviewed bilateral relations and prospects for enhanced cooperation.Ambassador Khalid briefed the minister on the Sudan Peace Initiative presented to the UN Security Council, noting its broad regional and international support. He condemned atrocities committed by the rebel militia, including attacks on infrastructure and the use of foreign mercenaries, and reaffirmed the Sudanese Armed Forces’ role in defending national sovereignty.Minister Bayramov underscored the importance of strengthening economic cooperation, particularly in energy and mining, to support Sudan’s recovery. The two sides agreed to activate existing agreements, accelerate new accords in investment and higher education, and convene the Joint Technical Cooperation Committee in the near term to advance a sustainable strategic partnership.AS/BH
