Oman to Host 6th Session of International
Dates Council

Muscat, 15 October 2026 (ONA) — The
Sultanate of Oman will host the 6th session of the International
Dates Council with effect from Sunday 18 October 2026.

Oman will be represented at the
session by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.

The 6-day session, which will be
held in Muscat, will cover various topics related to the development of the
sector of date palms, as well as the consolidation of international cooperation
in this field.

The meeting will highlight the
Council’s role in providing data and indicators on the crop’s production rates,
trade and markets. It will also focus on ways to support member states in their
programmes to develop joint projects and forge partnerships with the private
sector, universities, research centres and other institutions concerned.

The discussions will also deal with the
development of national capacities and the exchange of expertise in areas like
innovation, sustainability and value chains.

By hosting this event, Oman
reaffirms its commitment to foster international cooperation in the agriculture
sector and promote collective efforts to advance the date palms industry in a
manner that aligns with broader goals to achieve sustainable development and augment
the economic value of this sector.
