First Batch of Irish Medical Equipment Dispatched to Sudan for Rehabilitation of Soba University Hospital

Khartoum, January 13, 2026 (SUNA) – The first shipment of medical equipment donated by the Irish Ministry of Health through the Irish Health Services Authority left Dublin today, as part of the health partnership agreement between Sudan and Ireland.The equipment, valued at around €500,000, is earmarked for the rehabilitation of Soba University Hospital in Khartoum and includes ventilators, infant incubators, operating tables, and electric hospital beds.In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “This support highlights the close cooperation between Sudan and Ireland in the health sector, covering equipment provision, training, capacity-building, and the restoration of healthcare infrastructure damaged by the war.”BH/BH
