Khartoum, Jan. 17, 2026 (SUNA) – Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris reaffirmed the Government of Hope’s commitment to child welfare and improving services for children, while commending the contributions of the International Child Welfare Organization.The remarks came during his meeting with a delegation led by Ms. Ingrid Asheng, Chief Executive Officer of the Organization, attended by senior government officials. Discussions focused on the Organization’s health and education programmes across several states.In a press statement, Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Muhammad said the Prime Minister directed relevant authorities to facilitate the Organization’s work and remove operational impediments, underscoring the need for closer coordination—particularly in reconstruction, rebuilding, and the delivery of medical, health, and humanitarian services.Ms. Asheng said she was honoured to meet the Prime Minister, noting that her week-long visit included field tours in Red Sea and Khartoum states. She reaffirmed the Organization’s commitment to supporting children’s education in partnership with the Sudanese government, highlighting its more than 40 years of work in Sudan and its aim to deepen cooperation to secure a brighter future for the country’s children.AS/BH
