Port Sudan, Jan. 17, 2025 (SUNA) – Leader of the Ansar Sect, Imam Ahmed Al-Mahdi, called on Sudanese to unite and reject discord, reaffirming full support for the Sudanese Armed Forces as they defend the state and safeguard national sovereignty.Speaking at a reception in Port Sudan marking his return, hosted by political forces, Imam Al-Mahdi praised the army and supporting forces for their sacrifices and recent victories, which he said helped liberate key sites. He noted that his return was intended to express gratitude to the forces and to underscore hopes for reconstruction and national cohesion.He urged the armed forces to continue their efforts to protect the country from betrayal and rebellion, stressing the rule of law, the protection of national resources, and the Sudanese people’s right to peace free from division, misinformation, or foreign interference.Imam Al-Mahdi also highlighted Sudan’s balanced regional and international relations, emphasizing cooperation with brotherly and friendly countries in ways that serve national interests and promote peace.
