Political Forces Welcome Ansar Leader’s Return to Boost Unity, Reorganize Umma Party

Port Sudan, Jan. 17, 2025 (SUNA) – Sudanese political forces have welcomed the return of Ansar Leader Imam Ahmed Al-Mahdi to the country, stating it will contribute to national unity and help reorganize ranks within the National Umma Party. The representative of the political forces, Khalid Al-Fahl, stated that the Imam’s return comes at a critical time as the country faces militia rebellion, and will help unify national ranks to defend against conspiracies. He emphasized that the era of hesitation is over and called for an action to support the army in the Battle of Dignity through a political approach, affirming that the Sudanese people are the ultimate decision-makers. All political forces have united to support the national peace initiative announced by Prime Minister Kamal Idris,” he added. The Deputy Governor of Darfur Region and Advisor to the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), Babiker Hamadain, noted the significant implications of this return for enhancing the role of political forces and reuniting the National Umma Party during this critical period. He called for concerted efforts to support all national regular and popular forces in the Battle of Dignity, stressing that national institutions must lead a battle of awareness within communities. The Political Secretary of the Democratic Bloc, Mutaz Al-Fahl, stated that the Imam’s return will create a major shift in the political movement, given his substantial patriotic legacy, and expressed readiness to benefit from his experience. The Deputy Head of the Committee for Resolution and Arbitration at the Ansar Affairs Authority, Lieutenant General Abdel Rahman Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi, described the return as positive for unifying ranks and achieving peace. He pointed out that it presents an opportunity to mobilize political forces, particularly the National Umma and Democratic Unionist parties, and to address internal divisions.
