Prime Minister Expresses Gratitude for Turkey’s Official and Popular Support for Sudan

Khartoum, Jan. 20, 2026 (SUNA) – Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris met on Tuesday in Khartoum with an official Turkish media delegation currently visiting the country. The meeting was attended by Minister of Culture and Information Khalid Al-Eisir and Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers Ali Mohamed Ali.The Prime Minister welcomed the Turkish media delegation, affirming the depth and strength of relations between the peoples of Sudan and Turkey. He commended Turkey’s official and popular stances in support of Sudan, particularly in light of the exceptional circumstances the country is undergoing.During the meeting, the Prime Minister briefed the delegation on the government’s efforts to establish peace nationwide, referring to the Sudan Peace Initiative he presented to the UN Security Council. He affirmed that the current year will witness the realization of peace and victory for the Sudanese people, stating: “We are advocates of peace and seek to build solid and enduring peaceful relations with all countries in the region and the world.”Dr. Kamil Idris explained that the return of the Hope Government to Khartoum, the country’s historic capital, represents one of the most significant manifestations of victory for the Sudanese people. In this context, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing all basic services to enable citizens to return to the capital.For their part, members of the Turkish media delegation expressed their appreciation for the warm welcome and reception accorded to them. They noted that their visit to Sudan comes within the framework of reaffirming the distinguished relations between the peoples of the two countries and observing the achievements and plans of the Sudanese government for reconstruction following the systematic destruction perpetrated by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.FA/BH
