Khartoum, January 2026 (SUNA) – Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris has commended the pivotal role played by the Ministry of Defence in the Battle of Dignity and in defending Sudan’s land and sovereignty.The remarks came during the Prime Minister’s visit earlier today to the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Khartoum, where he was received by Minister of Defence Lieutenant General Hassan Daoud Kabrun.The Prime Minister affirmed that the Ministry of Defence has played the leading role in defending Sudan throughout successive historical periods, paying tribute to the sacrifices of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), other regular forces, and supporting units in the Battle of Dignity, and to their efforts to safeguard the country’s unity and sovereignty.For his part, the Minister of Defence welcomed the Prime Minister’s visit, describing it as a clear reflection of the state leadership’s recognition of the national role undertaken by the Ministry of Defence. He underscored that the ministry will remain a cornerstone in ensuring the success of the plans and programmes of the Government of Hope.The Minister of Defence further stressed that the ministry is working in full coordination with relevant authorities to enforce the authority of the state and uphold the rule of law, reaffirming its determination to move forward with resolve and strength to deter anyone who seeks to undermine the country’s resources and achievements.FA/BH
