Wad Madani, Jan. 20, 2026 (SUNA) – The Wali of Al-Gezira State, Al-Tahir Ibrahim Al-Khair, on Tuesday inspected a consignment of advanced medical devices and equipment donated by the State of Qatar, through the Qatar Charity Association, to the state’s health sector.The inspection took place at the Ministry of Health headquarters in Wad Madani.The Wali praised Qatar—government and people—for its continued support to Al-Gezira State, affirming that the advanced medical equipment complements his government’s efforts to upgrade the health system and localize medical treatment within the state. He also commended the staff of the Ministry of Health for their role in restoring normal life and ensuring the delivery of health services.For his part, the Director-General and Acting Minister of the Ministry of Health Dr. Osama Abdelrahman Al-Faki, confirmed that the Qatari support would help bridge gaps in laboratory equipment, intensive care, intermediate care, and emergency directorates. He announced that the coming days would see the doubling of intensive care unit capacity at Wad Madani Teaching Hospital.Meanwhile, the Director of the Qatar Charity Association office in Sudan, Tariq Mohy-Eddin Othman, stated that the next phase would witness the implementation of several new projects and continued support for the state, building on previous initiatives.FA/BH
