Finance Minister: “Government of Hope” Values Friendly Nations’ Support

Port Sudan, Feb. 10, 2026 (SUNA) — Minister of Finance Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim affirmed Sudan’s appreciation for countries that have stood by it during the difficult circumstances facing the country, commending support that has contributed to advancing efforts to achieve security and stability.Addressing a ceremony marking the 47th National Day of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Port Sudan, the minister said relations between the two countries are witnessing notable development, particularly in the cultural and economic spheres. He noted the shared commitment to strengthening joint cooperation in ways that serve the interests of both peoples.Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim said Sudan is confronting major challenges as a result of the war that targeted its resources and stability, adding that public unity behind the national leadership has helped secure successive gains. He expressed confidence in the country’s ability to overcome the current phase and move toward stability and reconstruction.He added that Sudan values the support of friendly nations, particularly their backing for the “Government of Hope” in its efforts to complete its return to the capital, Khartoum, and contribute to rebuilding what was destroyed by the war.For his part, Iranian Ambassador to Sudan Hassan Shah Hosseini said the 47th anniversary of the Iranian Revolution represents an important national occasion, expressing pride in the wide participation of various segments of Sudanese society in the celebration.He stated that Iran has achieved progress over decades in several vital sectors, including health and production, relying on its domestic capabilities, which has strengthened its regional standing.The ceremony was attended by the Red Sea State Wali, a number of accredited ambassadors to Sudan, and representatives of official and diplomatic institutions.BH/BH
