Geneva, March 06 (QNA) – UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk on Friday urged parties involved in the Middle East conflict to exercise restraint and take immediate steps toward de-escalation to prevent further civilian casualties.
Speaking to reporters in Geneva on the seventh day of the conflict, Turk called on concerned states to act swiftly to give peace a chance and urged other countries to press for the withdrawal of warring parties.
He warned that tensions continue to escalate, citing inflammatory rhetoric, bombings, destruction, killings, and rising violence, and called on world leaders to uphold international law, particularly international conventions and the UN Charter. (QNA)
