Khartoum, March 10, 2026 (SUNA) – Minister of Energy Engineer Al-Mu’tasim Ibrahim said the ministry has adopted a package of measures to strengthen the protection of electricity facilities across the country amid repeated drone attacks targeting critical infrastructure.The minister explained that power stations have been secured with protective systems, alongside operational procedures designed to minimize the impact of potential attacks. He added that the ministry is expanding protective measures in coordination with security agencies and the Armed Forces, which are providing defenses for vital facilities.Al-Mu’tasim Ibrahim noted that the ministry has also put in place technical alternatives to ensure the continuity of electricity supply. These include the deployment of mobile transformers and the use of locally manufactured transformers to compensate for any losses resulting from attacks.He affirmed that the ministry continues to rehabilitate damaged facilities, explaining that whenever some installations are destroyed, efforts are immediately launched to rebuild them.The minister further revealed that advance payments have been made to purchase additional transformers to replace those targeted by the rebel militia.BH/BH
