UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan Denis Brown expressed deep gratitude to the Red Sea State government, led by Wali Lt. Gen. Mustafa Mohamed Nour, for its warm reception and ongoing support to UN missions and humanitarian partners over the past three years.During a meeting at the state government headquarters in Port Sudan, attended by directors of health, social development, education, and water sectors, Brown praised the state’s role in accommodating internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees who fled the war.She clarified that the return of some offices to Khartoum does not imply withdrawal or abandonment of Red Sea State, affirming continued support for the most vulnerable groups.The meeting also addressed ways to enhance cooperation in basic service sectors, with UN representatives committing to contributing to stability and service delivery for citizens and IDPs alike.
