Port Sudan, 15-3-2026 (SUNA) – In a new security achievement reflecting vigilant oversight, the Anti-Smuggling Directorate of Red Sea State, in coordination with the General Intelligence Service, successfully thwarted smuggling attempts involving large quantities of narcotics (238 kg of “Ice”), weapons, and copper in a targeted operation across the state’s strategic routes.The seizure was inspected by the Wali of Red Sea State, Lieutenant General Mustafa Mohamed Noor, in the presence of Major General (Police) Ahmed Al-Madani, Assistant Director General for Compliance and Facilitation (representing the Director General of the Customs Forces), assistant directors, general directorate heads, and several senior officers.The Wali of Red Sea State praised the high professionalism and vigilance of the anti-smuggling forces, affirming that the Customs Authority serves as both a “protection and pillar” of the national economy and security, and commending the dedication of the directorate’s personnel in countering threats to the state’s safety.Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, Director General of the Customs Forces, stressed that the Customs, through its anti-smuggling operations, will remain vigilant against anyone attempting to undermine the nation’s social and economic security, emphasizing that this seizure exemplifies the diligent and professional work carried out by Customs across all border points.Brigadier General Gad Al-Karim Ahmed Al-Fadl, Director of the Anti-Smuggling Directorate in Red Sea State, announced that his forces successfully conducted precise pre-emptive operations that resulted in the seizure of 238 kilograms of “Ice” in the southern sector of the state, along with 15 firearms, 950 rounds of ammunition (Kalashnikov), and a communication device.He further revealed the seizure of 700 kilograms of copper ore in the northern sector of the state.Legal measures have been taken against three suspects involved in the smuggling attempts.BH/BH
