Security Arrangements Completed for Eid Al-Fitr Holiday in Khartoum Under Comprehensive Plan

Khartoum, 16-3-2026 (SUNA) – The Coordination Committee for Security Affairs of Khartoum Locality, during a meeting on Monday chaired by the locality’s Executive Director Abdelmoniem Al-Bashir, announced the completion of all arrangements to secure the Eid al-Fitr holiday through a comprehensive security plan.The plan includes mobile patrols by joint regular forces, in addition to fixed checkpoints and foot patrols operating throughout the holiday period.The committee explained that the plan targets key strategic locations, residential neighborhoods, markets, family parks, and Nile riverfront areas. It also provides for the continued operation of police stations and prosecution offices on duty throughout the holiday. The committee further stressed the importance of holding prayers within mosque courtyards in accordance with directives issued by the State Security Committee.On the same front, the committee confirmed that arrangements have been finalized to ensure the uninterrupted flow of strategic commodities during the Eid holiday, including the availability of fuel and cooking gas following the approval of the new fuel tariff.In a separate matter, the committee directed the enforcement of the Family and Child Law in addressing crimes involving minors as part of broader efforts to curb crime and negative social phenomena affecting these segments of society.The committee also ordered urgent arrangements for campaigns to collect beggars from the streets and transfer them to designated reception centers in the state after coordination with the Ministry of Social Development.In addition, the committee instructed authorities to inventory, review, and monitor residential lodgings and guesthouses in the Central Market, Local Market, and the Golden Square area in southern Khartoum as part of measures to maintain security and reinforce state authority. It also directed periodic monitoring of the safety of drinking-water wells in residential areas, in coordination with the Water Authority and the Ministry of Health, to ensure water safety and public health.BH/BH
