Amman, May 24 (Petra) – The number of engineers in the Kingdom has
reached approximately 200,000, equivalent to one engineer for every
41 citizens, placing Jordan among the countries with the highest
engineering density ratios worldwide.
The number of members registered with health, medical, and nursing
associations has also reached around 135,000. Physicians account for
nearly 47,000 of the total, while pharmacists number about 50,000,
dentists 12,000, and veterinarians approximately 2,100.
Jordan has recorded a rate of 2.5 physicians per 1,000 people,
surpassing the global average of around 1.8 physicians per 1,000
people. The figures highlight Jordan’s advanced standing compared
with many countries in the region and worldwide, despite the
Kingdom’s relatively limited resources.
Meanwhile, the number of lawyers in Jordan has reached approximately
20,000, equivalent to one lawyer for every 630 citizens.
Professional associations attributed the notable rise in membership
numbers since the Kingdom’s independence to Jordan’s sustained
investment in education and human capital development, which has
enabled the country to achieve, and in some cases exceed, global
benchmarks.
The associations noted that the Kingdom has consistently provided the
necessary educational infrastructure, including schools,
universities, and qualified human resources, alongside strong public
engagement with education and professional advancement.
