Petra, May 26 (Petra)– The Petra Development and Tourism Region
Authority illuminated the facade of the iconic Treasury in red on
Tuesday in celebration of the 80th Independence Day of the Hashemite
Kingdom of Jordan.
The Treasury, one of the world’s most renowned archaeological
landmarks, was specially lit with the slogan “80 Years of
Independence,” while candles were placed in front of the monument in
a festive display reflecting the significance of the occasion and
Petra’s status as a cultural and historical symbol of Jordan.
The authority said the event was held to express pride in the
nation’s journey and achievements, and to embody loyalty and
belonging to the wise Hashemite leadership. It also commemorated
Jordan’s path of development and progress since independence.
Independence Day remains a unifying national occasion during which
Jordanians proudly remember the sacrifices of the founding fathers
and the accomplishments achieved over eight decades under the
Hashemite banner.
