Vancouver, June 16 (QNA) – Team Qatar are preparing for their match against Canada in the 2nd round of Group B competitions at the FIFA World Cup 2026, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Taking place at BC Place Vancouver Friday at 1:00 a.m. Doha time, the match will be an opportunity for Qatar to strengthen their chances of reaching the next round, after drawing 1–1 against Switzerland in their opening match at San Francisco Bay Area Stadium.
Already in Vancouver, Team Qatar will hold their final training session ahead of the match at Killarney Park on Wednesday, preceded by a pre-match press conference, to be attended by Qatar head coach Julen Lopetegui of Spain and Canada head coach Jesse Marsch of the United States.
Before departing for Canada, Coach Lopetegui had stressed to his team the importance of maintaining focus in their second match, having earned Qatar’s first-ever World Cup point from their draw against Switzerland.
He also highlighted the need for them to increase their efforts in their upcoming match against Canada, which is crucial for securing a place in the knockout stage.
Before the team left for Canada, Qatar fans had already completed their arrival in Vancouver in several groups, coordinated by the Qatar Football Association.
The Association had launched the Qatar fan service office in Vancouver to help fans with transportation and provide them with assistance and services, ensuring them ideal conditions to back the national team. (QNA)
