Oman, Thailand Sign MoU to Enhance Cooperation in Energy Sector

Bangkok, 15 September 2026 (ONA) —
The Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Thailand today signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the energy sector. The MoU aims to expand opportunities of partnership and joint investment, facilitate
the exchange of expertise and technologies and support the development of the
energy ecosystem.

The MoU was signed by Eng. Salim bin
Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, and Akanat Promphan, Minister
of Energy in the Kingdom of Thailand.

The MoU stems from the two countries
shared desire to develop cooperation in the energy sector, consolidate their economic
ties and generate broader opportunities for cooperation among their institutions
and companies.

As per the MoU, areas of cooperation
include encouraging investment, enhancing bilateral consultation, exchanging
policies, technologies and information and developing training, knowledge
transfer and the operation of joint energy projects.

The MoU lays grounds for “Oman-Thailand
Energy Policy Dialogue” which will bring together representatives from the
private sector in the two countries. The dialogue will serve as an
institutional platform to identify joint projects and devise a programme for long-term
cooperation and engagement. The MoU also supports the exchange of training
courses and visits of experts to each other’s countries, as well as cooperation
in the field of research in a manner that contributes to developing the workforce
and exchanging knowledge and expertise in the energy sector.
