Singapore, September 22 (QNA) – The dollar edged lower on Tuesday, while the yen remained under pressure as traders wagered that policymakers in Japan will struggle to keep up with a hawkish turn by global central banks, leaving the country’s interest rates at a wide gap with major peers.
After drifting lower on Monday, the yen slipped to 157.47 versus the dollar in the Asia session. The euro inched up to $1.1476 and sterling to $1.3383.
The Australian dollar hovered at $0.7120, while the battered New Zealand dollar appeared to catch a boost from central bank chief remarks that traders took as hawkish.
The New Zealand dollar rose about 0.4% from a near three-month low to $0.5736. (QNA)
