Khartoum, (SUNA) — Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim affirmed Sudan’s commitment to strengthening its economic relations with Saudi Arabia and elevating them to a strategic partnership that serves the mutual interests of the two countries, building on the depth of their historical relations and the longstanding ties between the two brotherly peoples. Chairing the Economic Sector meeting of the Council of Ministers at the ministry’s headquarters on Tuesday, the minister explained that Sudan is working to develop an integrated vision for economic cooperation with Saudi Arabia, focusing on clear priorities and viable projects, and leveraging Sudan’s resources, capabilities and comparative advantages in a way that supports economic recovery and reconstruction while opening broader avenues for investment and successful economic partnerships. The meeting, attended by economic-sector ministers and the Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, reviewed opportunities for cooperation and investment in a number of vital sectors, foremost among them agriculture, livestock, energy, mining, infrastructure and transport. It also addressed the development of production chains, manufacturing and exports, as well as enhancing the benefits of Sudan’s strategic location in regional and international trade. The meeting also underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation in the financial and banking sector and enhancing coordination between the two central banks, which would help facilitate trade and investment transactions and create a favorable environment for expanding economic relations between the two countries. The Finance Minister affirmed that the next phase aims to move Sudanese-Saudi economic relations toward more effective and sustainable partnerships based on well-planned, practical projects that provide opportunities for both the public and private sectors, thereby promoting economic integration and supporting the two countries’ aspirations for sustainable development and growth.BH/BH
