Conference on Parental Well-Being Wraps Up

Amman, Oct. 28 (Petra) — Jordan’s first national conference on
parental well-being, quality of life and family support systems
concluded Wednesday with emphasis that parental well-being is a core
priority in itself.

The Royal Health Awareness Society (RHAS) organized the two-day
conference in partnership with the Van Leer Foundation, where more
than 300 people and 35 experts from around the world took part.

Parental well-being is not merely a means to promote children’s
growth and development, said RHAS Director General Amal Ireifij said,
noting the need to invest in the early years of children’s lives,
given the impact on the future of societies and states.

Ireifij said the gathering focused on forging closer cooperation
among the public sector, private sector and civil society
organizations, and developing an integrated national system to
support parents.

She stressed the importance of considering the environmental and
social factors surrounding families, stressing the role of cities and
public spaces in easing daily life for families and reducing social
isolation.

Ireifij called for continued dialogue and exchange of expertise among
stakeholders, and for building on the conference outcomes to develop
policies and programs that support parental well-being.

The conference covered three main tracks: emotional well-being and
supportive care; supportive care environments and local systems; and
innovation, systems thinking and future policies.
