Amman, July 5 (Petra) — The agricultural exports recorded robust
growth during the first half of 2026, driven by rising shipments of
fruits, vegetables and livestock products, reflecting the growing
competitiveness of Jordanian agricultural products in regional and
international markets.

Minister of Agriculture Saeb Abdul Halim Khreisat said total
agricultural exports reached 281,000 tonnes during the first six
months of the year, compared with 245,000 tonnes in the corresponding
period of 2025, representing year-on-year growth of 14 percent.

Vegetable exports increased by 13.1 percent to 197,000 tonnes from
174,000 tonnes a year earlier, while fruit exports climbed 18 percent
to 83,000 tonnes, compared with 71,000 tonnes during the same period
of last year.

The livestock sector also delivered strong export performance, with
hatching egg exports surging from 29.9 million to 77 million eggs,
marking growth of 159 percent. Table egg exports rose from 78 million
to 134 million eggs, an increase of 71 percent, while sheep exports
totaled 163,000 head during the reporting period.

Khreisat attributed the positive results to the implementation of the
Economic Modernization Vision and its executive program, as well as
the coordinated efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture, the private
sector and farmers to modernize agricultural production, improve
product quality and align exports with the requirements of
international markets.

He said the ministry has continued to pursue new export opportunities
while maintaining Jordan’s established overseas markets, helping
sustain the sector’s export momentum.

The minister noted that agriculture continues to strengthen its
contribution to the national economy by supporting the trade balance
and generating employment opportunities. He added that the ministry
remains focused on increasing agricultural output, raising the value
added of agricultural products and enhancing their competitiveness in
global markets.

Khreisat reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to expanding exports of
Jordanian agricultural products as part of broader efforts to achieve
sustainable agricultural development, improve farmers’ incomes and
strengthen national food security.

He added that the strong growth recorded during the first half of
2026 reflects the advanced position Jordanian agricultural products
have attained in international markets and the sector’s increasing
ability to compete abroad.
