Al-Eisir: Education Is Open to All Sudanese, and No Student Is Punished for Their Relatives’ Sins

Khartoum (SUNA) – Minister of Culture, Information, Antiquities and Tourism Khalid Al-Eisir said the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and its supporters had repeatedly claimed that they provided services and security in areas under their control. They had also claimed to have held Sudan Certificate examinations there, while children of some militia members and leaders sat the examinations in Sudanese schools in government-controlled areas. Speaking at a media briefing to announce admission results for higher education institutions, held on Wednesday at the conference hall of the International University of Africa in Khartoum, Al-Eisir said this demonstrated that the Sudanese state was responsible and mature, and that the Sudanese people were level-headed. He said they did not associate the children of those who had been misled, or of victims, with the crimes committed by the foreign-backed militia, which is led by some of these students’ fathers. He stressed that Sudan was a responsible state committed to ensuring access to education for all its citizens, and that no student should be held accountable for the wrongdoing of a parent or relative. He reaffirmed that education remained open to everyone. Al-Eisir also pointed out that, when armed movements were fighting the central government, their children and those of some of their leaders continued to study at Sudanese universities, and the state had never hesitated to provide educational opportunities to their children.BH/BH
