Al-Hussein Bin Talal University Excels in Wall-Climbing Robot Competition

Ma’an, July 6 (Petra) — Students from Al-Hussein Bin Talal
University’s Faculty of Engineering secured top positions in Jordan’s
inaugural Wall-Climbing Robot Competition, marking a new achievement
for the university in engineering innovation and applied research.

The university’s two teams ranked among the top 10 out of 40 teams
representing Jordanian universities that competed in the event.

The participating teams were Robogrip, comprising Osama Shawashi,
Marwan Sbeihat, Farah Al-Fares and Lin Abu Loum, and Peak Team,
consisting of Mustafa Al-Nuaimi, Ayman Al-Omari, Rayan Al-Bazayeh and
Sumaya Al-Mahamid.

Peak Team was also awarded the “Team Spirit” prize in recognition of
the collaboration, coordination and teamwork demonstrated by members
of both university teams throughout the competition.

The projects featured advanced engineering applications in mechanical
engineering, embedded systems and aerodynamics. Students designed
lightweight robots capable of climbing vertical surfaces using a
hybrid adhesion system combining neodymium magnets with vacuum
suction technology.

The designs also incorporated detailed motor torque calculations and
optimized air channel configurations to maximize efficiency and
operational stability. Development of the robots involved several
months of engineering design, modeling and testing.

University President Dr. Atef Al-Kharabsheh congratulated the
students on the achievement, reaffirming the university’s commitment
to supporting scientific research and innovation initiatives that
prepare graduates capable of competing in advanced engineering
fields.

He said such accomplishments strengthen the university’s standing as
one of Jordan’s leading academic institutions in engineering
education and scientific research.

Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Dr. Abdullah Al-Hasanat said the
achievement reflects the faculty’s continued efforts to prepare
engineers equipped with both theoretical knowledge and practical
skills.

He added that participation in engineering competitions provides
students with valuable opportunities to foster innovation, strengthen
teamwork and apply classroom knowledge to real-world engineering
challenges.
