Amman, Sept. 6 (Petra) — The Bromine Amman Marathon will return for
its 16th edition on Oct. 2 with a new international designation,
after securing the World Athletics Road Race Label for 2026.

The Jordanian Marathon Association (Run Jordan), which organizes the
event, is completing preparations for the race, expected to draw
runners from Jordan and abroad across the full marathon, half
marathon, relay and 10-kilometer categories.

The World Athletics label marks a significant step for the Amman
race, placing it among internationally recognized road-running events
that meet specified technical and organizational requirements.

Under this year’s slogan, “Run in the Heart of Amman,” the race
courses will take participants through some of the capital’s most
recognizable streets and landmarks.

The 42.195-kilometer individual and relay marathons and the
21-kilometer half marathon will start at 6 a.m. from Hashemite Plaza,
while participants with disabilities will set off at 5:50 a.m.

The route will wind through downtown Amman, taking runners along
Quraysh Street, Ali Bin Abi Taleb Street, the Greater Amman
Municipality area, King Talal Street, Al-Husseini Mosque, Hashemi
Street and Al-Jaish Street before reaching the new Raghadan Complex.

Runners will then make their way back past the Roman Theater to
Hashemite Plaza. Full-marathon competitors will complete four laps,
while half-marathon runners will cover two. Relay team members will
alternate at the end of each lap.

The 10-kilometer race will begin at 9 a.m. on Queen Alia Street
opposite the Royal Cultural Center, with the category for
participants with disabilities starting 10 minutes earlier.

The course will pass through several parts of the capital, including
the Fourth Circle, Oqbah Bin Nafeh Street, Abdoun, Wadi Abdoun, Ali
Bin Abi Taleb Street and Quraysh Street, before finishing at
Hashemite Plaza.

Run Jordan Director General Lina Al-Kurd said the association is
working to improve the experience for runners at every stage, from
registration to the finish line, adding that the World Athletics
label provides further momentum to maintain high technical and
organizational standards.

She said the routes were designed to make Amman an integral part of
the race experience, allowing participants to run through the city
center and several of the capital’s prominent locations.

Preparations are being coordinated with official, security and sports
authorities and include course readiness, medical services, water
stations, timing systems and arrangements for managing the movement
of participants, Al-Kurd said.

The international recognition extends beyond the Amman Marathon. Both
the Amman Marathon and the Red Sea Half Marathon have secured the
World Athletics Road Race Label for 2026, strengthening the
international standing of Run Jordan’s events and their ability to
attract runners from the region and beyond.

This year’s Amman Marathon will feature the 42.195-kilometer
individual marathon and relay, the 21-kilometer half marathon and the
10-kilometer race, alongside dedicated categories for participants
with disabilities.

Registration remains open online through Run Jordan’s official
website and in person at the association’s office. A delivery service
is also available for participants registering online.
