Aqaba, Sept. 15 (Petra) — Aqaba authorities are stepping up waste
management and environmental awareness at the city’s logistics yards,
which handle between 3,500 and 4,000 trucks each day.

An environmental campaign targeting truck drivers and other yard
users is focusing on proper waste disposal, facility cleanliness and
day-to-day practices suited to the high volume of logistics activity.

The initiative is being carried out by the Aqaba Transport and
Logistics Services Company in cooperation with the Ministry of
Environment and the Environment and Public Safety Directorate at the
Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA).

ASEZA Assistant Commissioner for Investment Muhannad Al-Maaytah said
the intensity of daily truck movements requires sustained
environmental measures to maintain clean and safe logistics
facilities.

He said cooperation among the relevant agencies is essential to turn
environmental awareness into practical behavior and maintain a
cleaner and safer operating environment.

As part of the campaign, drivers received guidance on proper waste
handling and were provided with environmental bags, while teams
carried out waste collection across the logistics yards.

Aqaba Transport and Logistics Services Company CEO Khaled Morsi
participated in the campaign alongside representatives of the
Ministry of Environment, ASEZA’s Environment and Public Safety
Directorate and Maqta Ayla Digital Solutions.
