Arab Parliament welcomes UK ban on Israeli settlement trade

Cairo, Sept. 9 (Petra) -Arab Parliament (AP) welcomed on Wednesday
the UK’s decision to ban imports from illegal Israeli settlements in
the occupied Palestinian territory.

Welcoming a parallel declaration by 12 Western foreign ministers to
restrict trade with illegal settlements, AP Speaker Mohammed Yamahi
noted that these measures represent a “pivotal transition” from
passive political condemnation to tangible enforcement against
Israel’s settlement system.

In a press statement, Yamahi said all Israeli settlements are illegal
under international law, adding that ongoing expansion efforts, like
the E1 settlement project, “openly” challenge international authority
and dismantle prospects for a two-state solution. He stressed that
“Israel will not succeed in turning its unlawful policy into an
accepted status quo.”

Warning against economic activity that finances land theft and
displacement, Yamahi urged the EU and global leaders to enforce
binding settlement product bans, halt financial ties, and sanction
extremist settlers.
