Amman, July 21 (Petra) — Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj.
Gen. Yousef Huneiti met in Washington with a group of experts from
leading U.S. think tanks to discuss regional developments and their
impact on Middle East security, as part of an official visit to the
United States.

The meeting, attended by Jordan’s Ambassador to the United States,
Dina Kawar, included William Wechsler of the Atlantic Council,
Charles Lister of the Middle East Institute, Victoria Coates of The
Heritage Foundation, Ghaith al-Omari of the Washington Institute for
Near East Policy, and Michael Doran of the Hudson Institute.

Discussions focused on rapid regional developments, the resulting
security and political challenges, and ongoing regional and
international efforts to contain crises and enhance stability.

Huneiti emphasized that strategic research institutions play an
important role in analyzing international and regional dynamics. He
noted that their assessments support decision-makers in navigating
complex security, political, and military challenges in an
increasingly volatile global environment.

The army chief outlined Jordan’s role in supporting regional
stability through a foreign policy anchored in moderation and
cooperation with allied nations. He stressed the importance of
maintaining continuous dialogue with U.S. research institutions to
expand the exchange of expertise and strategic perspectives.

The meeting forms part of ongoing engagements between the Jordan
Armed Forces and U.S. research institutions aimed at strengthening
strategic dialogue and supporting efforts to consolidate regional
security.
